About RAC Asia

We’re Far from having too much horsepower…

Royal Automobile Club Asia (RAC Asia) is a motorsports club based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Established in year 2017 with the primary focus on developing professional motorsports in the Asian region with a particular focus in Sri Lanka.

RAC Asia intends to be a catalyst in developing motorsports as an industry in Sri Lanka and in the Asian region. RAC Asia established to provide a platform to wider motorsports competitors, officials, administrators, spectators and fans to associate with RAC Asia and world class motorsports and performance events.

RAC Asia has a particular focus on stage rallies and planning to develop the stage rally sport in Sri Lanka. Members of RAC Asia enjoys range of benefits and it provides a great platform for collaboration and exchange of ideas related to motorsports.

RAC Racing is the competition arm of the club and club provides necessary support and guidance for its drivers and co-drivers.

RAC Marshal Team is the voluntary official group of the club, which includes range of officials including Stewards, Race Directors, Clerk of the Course, Flag Marshals, Time Control Marshals and other officials.

Club's Vision

To be a catalyst in developing motorsports as an industry in Sri Lanka and in the Asian Region and promote professional motorsports in Sri Lanka and in the Asian Region. RAC Asia will embark on a journey to bring international motorsports events to Sri Lanka and facilitate the Sri Lankan competitors to take part in international events through RAC Racing team.

Inaugaration of Royal Automobile Club Asia.

2017 December

RAC Asia 01st International Appearance As Officials at the International Rally of Thailand.

RAC Racer Yasith Gamage represented Sri Lanka at the Asian Gymkhana Championship in Thailand.

2018 March

RAC Asia 01st Local Race Meet Participation. Officiated at the Defense Services Motor Racing Event held at Gajaba Super Cross Track, Saliyapura, Anuradhapura.

2018 May

RAC Asia 01st National Motor Race Meet Participation. Officiated at Walawe Super Cross 2018 organized by Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) of Sri Lanka Army and conducted by Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club (SLMCC)

2018 June

RAC Asia journey with Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) started with officiating at Colombo Super Cross 2018.

2018 August

RAC Asia joined hands with Sri Lanka Equestrian Federation to conduct the SLMA Equestrian Sports Festival 2018 at SLMA Military Academy, Diyathalawa.

2018 September

RAC Asia Secretary and Chief Trainer, Dakshina Amarasinghe, officiated at the Formula 1 Race Meet in Singapore.

2019 March

RAC Racing Team made its first appearance at the Northern Speed Rally 2019. RAC Racers, Yasith Gamage, Dakshina Amarasinghe and Rizmin Razik took part and secured podium positions.

2019 November

RAC Asia first public appearance in Colombo with RAC 1 and RAC 2 race cars. Exhibited The Team and Cars at Seylan Colombo Motor Show 2019.

2019 December

RAC Asia conducted its very first national motor cycle event in conjunction with SLARDAR at Colombo Super Cross 2019.

2019 December

RAC Asia organized and conducted its second national motor cycle event MOTO FEST 2019 in conjunction with TWMRC at Kanway Autodrome, Mirigama.

2020 February

RAC Asia organized and conducted the Thunder Valley 2020 MX Event in conjunction with TWMRC as the first race meet for 2020 as a probationary member club of Federation of Motor Cycle Sports Sri Lanka (FMSSL).
